And that's a wrap

I ended up selling my refurbished chairs for $150! This whole thing was a fun little project to do this for a year. The process was a lot more time consuming that i thought, but it was really fun and i'm glad i did it!

new chairs..

So laaame, i haven't updated this blog in forever. Having a baby did me in. Anyway enough excuses.. With the $50 i made selling the last 4 chairs, i purchased 4 more chairs for $25. Here are the before and after pics! I did a two toned dealio, spray painting the top parts in gold then sealing it in clear coat. I like them so much i just might keep them! But if i can get the right price i might sell them too. It's a toss up.

Chairs sold

My chairs sold today! That was fast. Although there was a hiccup involved. About 2 hours after the person came and bought them, he texted me and said they were too small and asked if he could return them. I'm not running a department store here, buddy. I said, "I'm sorry i don't do returns unless there's actually something wrong with the item or i posted incorrect information." He texted back and said he's a fair person and would really appreciate it if i did. It was a bit awkward. Thanks to my very articulate, well-spoken husband, this is how i responded: "I understand you aren't pleased with the chairs. However, seeing as you saw the chairs in person I feel put in an extremely awkward position by your request. On top of not taking returns and it not being good Craigslist etiquette, I am trying to tie up loose ends before having a baby. I am sorry." Boom. Haven't heard back from him. Shouldn't either. I will post what i find to buy for $50 or less!

4 chairs

The flip time for these purchases can take forever! So i finally bought something with the cash i sold the rug for. I bought these 4 chairs for $35, and now they are posted for $50. They are sturdy and light and they have hand-woven rush seating. I was contemplating keeping them and painting them/adding seat cushions, but that's way too much work. We'll see if i get any bites!

Rug sold

I sold my rug yesterday for $35. I posted it for $50 originally, but there were no bites. A few days later i lowered it to $40 and people started writing. Selling things on Craigslist is like fishing.. you just have to figure out the right bait. A lady showed up to buy it and she hemmed and hawed, and gave me greif about three tiny little black marks on one of the corners. She asked for it for $30 but i said no, so we settled on $35. So now i'm shopping to see what i can find for $35!

"Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start..."

So I moved from LA to Ohio recently. We are just here for one year. We moved from a small two bedroom apartment in Orange County, into a 5 bedroom, 4 bath, 3 finished level, 2-car garage, big-yard home in the Dayton area. And we pay $100 less per month in rent! I don't know what to do with all the space! I've loved shopping Craigslist to find good deals on furniture to fill this big house. (Well i guess not JUST furniture, i found our house on Craigslist, along with the 2004 Odyssey we bought today!) SO, for fun i've decided to start this one-year blog adventure: i'm start with something free on Craigslist and will see at the end of one year how much money i've made or what one big item i've scored. I found this rug free yesterday, so we'll start with that! I just posted it for $50. Let the one year Craigslisting challenge begin!
